Rear differential bearing wear is one of the most common drivetrain faults on the Land Rover Freelander 2 (L359). As mileage increases, the front pinion nose bearing deteriorates, producing a characteristic humming or whining sound from the rear of the vehicle, typically noticeable between 40 mph and 70 mph or under trailing throttle.

Replacing the worn bearings before total failure occurs protects the crown wheel and pinion teeth from irreversible damage. Our Freelander 2 rear diff kits provide all required wear parts for an exact rebuild to factory tolerances:

Identifying the Correct Freelander 2 Rear Diff Kit by VIN

Land Rover revised the rear differential casing and bearing sizing mid-production. To ensure exact fitment, check the last 8 digits of your vehicle's VIN before ordering:

• Early Models (to VIN BH257090): covers vehicles manufactured up to approximately late 2011 with the initial pinion bearing configuration.
• Late Models (from VIN BH257091 onwards): Covers late 2011 to 2014/2015 production with updated pinion bearing dimensions.
